Accelerating Students' Reading Abilities
Comparing the EDNA
Reading Programs with Traditional Reading Programs...
EDNA is designed to meet the needs of students who are at,
above or below their grade placement and can make more than one year's
progress in a year. This allows students to be accelerated and to read
to their potential.
TRADITIONAL reading programs are designed for students
who are at their grade placement and make one year's progress in one
year.
EDNA
students are taught everything they need to know. Then they read,
under the teacher's supervision, a sufficient amount of material at
their instructional level to perfect the skills at that level.
TRADITIONAL reading programs
have all students read the same material regardless of their reading
abilities.
EDNA
instructional and extension activities are efficient and always require
the student to do the work of reading.
TRADITIONAL reading programs design instructional and
extension activities that are time consuming and do not require the
student to do the work of reading.
EDNA
reading materials provide a wide range of topics so the student
increases vocabulary and knowledge on a wide range of subjects.
Additionally, selected topics that address content related matter spiral
through each reading level.
TRADITIONAL reading programs provide a limited number of
topics.
